The TV Guide Channel is there to remind me which channels are which… but I can never remember which channel is the TV Guide Channel…

The Entertainment Report

Since I’ve started working at home, I’ve become familiar with the perils of non-cable daytime TV, home to soap operas, mid-day news, and talk shows. Fortunately, here in Dallas, there is KFWD Channel 52. Starting at 1:00 in the afternoon, their programming block is as follows:

1:00 – The Rockford Files
2:00 – The A-TEAM
3:00 – Kojak
4:00 – Magnum, P.I.

Is there a better line-up of TV known to mankind? I submit that there is not!!

In other news, go, right now, and see “V for Vendetta.” Don’t question it, just go!

Magic Man… does business… on frick…

Wayne never fails to prove himself a never-ending faunt of finding weird entertainment via the Interwebs, and today was no exception. Although the Internet, I suppose, was not originally responsible for this particular realm of bizarre. That distinction goes to the crazy bastards at Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim. I don’t have cable at the moment, so I’ve been out of touch with TV for a while, so I’m not really aware of much of the new programming on your basic cable. I catch tidbits now and again in passing, or through second-hand reenactments, but I don’t get to watch with as great a regularity as I did back in the halcyon, all-nighter, finals-week days of college.

Today, though, Wayne sent me a video file of a new Adult Swim show called “12 Oz. Mouse.”

Now… I knew animators in college. I was roommates with them. In fact, my friend Sketch is lead animator for another Adult Swim show, “Squidbillies”… which, now that I think about it, probably explains a little of what I saw today… but I was never really aware there was an actual realm of animation that was dictated solely by random happenstance…

In short, “12 Oz. Mouse” either (a.) makes perfect, undeniable sense provided you’ve recently consumed an entire.. “bag”… “hit”… “sprout”… or whatever it’s called of mushrooms. Or (b.) upon watching it, instills in you the transcendent, hallucenogenic feeling that one might achieve by eating an entire… let’s go with “bushel”… of mushrooms.

The entirety of the episode I saw made not one damn lick of sense, and yet I have watched it at least three times today. It is truly the animated equivalent of being completely wasted.

That aside, it’s the weekend, and I’m gonna’ go hang at Nikita tonight. In the words of 12 Oz. Mouse: “This tank needs some liquor…”
